Word Finder

A word finder is a tool that takes the letters you are holding and returns every valid word you can spell with them. Type your letters above and this one searches all 172,823 words of the ENABLE list in an instant, sorts results by length or points, and accepts ? for blank tiles. It works for Scrabble, Words With Friends, Wordle, and any other word game.

Enter your letters to see every word you can make.

Find Words by Length

Solving with a fixed tile count? Jump straight to the finder for that exact length. The four, six, and seven letter finders come first because those are the searches players run most often.

Words That Start With Any Letter

Browse the dictionary by first letter, or open the words that start with hub to compare every letter at a glance. Each list shows live counts pulled from the same dictionary the finder searches.

Put This Word Finder on Your Site

Run a word game blog or a puzzle community? You can embed this word finder as a free widget with one small snippet. It loads fast, fits your page width, and always searches the same dictionary as this site.

Put in the letters you are holding and this page finds everything you can spell with them. The search runs against all 172,823 words in the ENABLE list, the same public domain dictionary behind every count on this site, and it happens entirely in your browser, so results land the moment you stop typing. Sort by points, by length, or alphabetically, lock the results to one exact length, and tap any word to copy it into your game.

How do wildcards and blank tiles work?

Holding a blank? Type a question mark for it. You can mix up to three question marks with up to twenty letters, and the finder tries every letter of the alphabet in each blank position. A wildcard contributes zero points, exactly as a blank tile does in Scrabble, so the rankings stay honest. If your rack reads Q, I, Z, and a blank, the finder surfaces QUIZ with the U supplied by your blank, and shows the score you would actually earn.

Why do Scrabble and Words With Friends score the same word differently?

The two big tile games disagree about what letters are worth, so this tool carries both tables and a toggle to switch between them. JO is worth 9 points in Scrabble and 11 in Words With Friends. UNSCRAMBLE itself jumps from 16 to 22 when you flip the switch, because the games disagree about most of its letters. Whichever system you pick, the list re-sorts instantly, and the best seven letter word in the whole dictionary is ZYZZYVA, a tropical weevil worth 43 Scrabble points before any bonus.

Who is this word finder for?

Scrabble players hunting a bingo can mine 23,109 seven letter words for that 50 point bonus. Wordle players have 8,636 five letter candidates to probe when a puzzle turns stubborn. Anagram fans, crossword solvers, and anyone playing a rack based mobile game fit here too. And if you do one thing to get better at tile games, memorize the 96 two letter words in the list, starting with AA, AE, and the vowel savers OE and AI.

Every count on this page comes straight from the dictionary at build time, never from a copywriter. Read where the list comes from, and what it deliberately leaves out, on our dictionary page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does this word finder work?
Type the letters you are holding and the tool checks every one of 172,823 entries in the ENABLE word list, right in your browser. Results appear as you type, sorted by points, and you can narrow them by exact length or by a starting or ending letter. Tap any result to copy it straight into your game.
How do I search with a blank tile?
Type a question mark for each blank, up to three of them. The finder treats a question mark as any letter you need, and just like a blank tile in Scrabble it adds zero points to the score shown, so a word built on a blank never outranks the same word built from real tiles.
Why does the same word show different points in Scrabble and Words With Friends?
The two games price their tiles differently. The little word jo scores 9 points in Scrabble but 11 in Words With Friends, because J and O are valued differently there. Flip the scoring toggle above the results and the whole list re-sorts with the right values for your game.
Why is a word my opponent played not in the results?
We search ENABLE, a public domain list built for word games. It skips proper nouns, hyphenated forms, and some newer coinages, so a handful of modern tournament words are absent by design. Our dictionary page explains exactly what is in the list, where it comes from, and why we chose it.
